Some Enchanted Evening: A Celebration of Musical Theatre Past and Present

Some Enchanted Evening is a gala celebration of the glories of classic and contemporary musical theatre, featuring CBC Radio Host, mezzo-soprano Julie Nesrallah; legendary operatic baritone Gino Quilico and Classical 96 Host, concert pianist Daniel Vnukowski, who created a sensation in 2024’s Rhapsody in Blue Gershwin concert. Beloved selections from West Side Story, Carousel, South Pacific and Les Miz will be topped up with some opera and operetta arias, and selections from the American Songbook.
Daniel Vnukowski
Hailed as “a pianist to watch” by New York Classical Review and “a dashing pianist” by The Sunday Times, Polish-Canadian pianist Daniel Vnukowski (pronounced Vnoo-koff’-skee) has performed throughout Europe, North America, South America and Asia in prestigious concert halls. These have included large-scale concerts for crowds in the thousands and outreach recitals for youth in remote communities throughout Canada, as a founder of the “Piano Six – New Generation” program. He is also the founder and Artistic Director of the Collingwood Music Festival.
Julie Nesrallah
Julie Nesrallah dazzles audiences with her engaging personality and her expressive voice, and has performed for leading opera companies, symphonies, festivals and chamber music ensembles across Canada and around the world. Miss Nesrallah sang “God Save the Queen” for Will and Kate, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, for Canada Day festivities on Parliament Hill in a performance that was viewed by millions. She also sang for An Evening for Peace for Her Majesty Queen Noor of Jordan in Montreal.
Gino Quilico O.C. C.Q.
Mr. Gino Quilico’s career spans more than forty years, following a remarkable course through the most prestigious opera houses in the world: The Metropolitan Opera of New York, la Scala di Milano, The Royal Opera House (London), The Paris Opera, The Vienna Staatsoper to name a few
Mr. Quilico sang under the direction of the greatest conductors of the symphonic world: Herbert Von Karajan, Leonard Bernstein, Seiji Ozawa, Zubin Mehta and of course Yannick Nézet-Séguin. Among his many achievements, he participated in the world premiere of the opera The Ghosts of Versailles, created for the Metropolitan Opera’s centenary celebrations in 1991. Most recently in 2024 Gino Quilico received the Ruby Award in Toronto and in June 2024 he received Le Chevalier de l’Ordre National du Québec.
Stu Harrison
Harrison has been an active part of Toronto’s live musical scene since the early 2000’s, including stints at Second City, Young People’s Theatre, and music director for Garden Bros Circus. Currently, Stu performs 75+ shows per year throughout the GTA and Canada, regularly partnering with some of Canada’s leading jazz icons including Heather Bambrick, Billy Newton-Davis and Micah Barnes.
