SUMMARY:Derek Seguin
DESCRIPTION:Comedy superstar Derek Seguin is touring Canada with his hysterical new show to celebrate his 20th year as a professional joke teller. Derek’s two-time JUNO nominated and 13-time Just for Laughs stand-up is always a pure reflection of his dysfunctional life\, but naturally seen through his “slightly” twisted looking glass. This show will feature more of his hilarious stories on the challenges of relationships with his girlfriend\, his three nearly grown-up children and every-day life in a mixed-up world that he finds peculiar at best. With barely a moment to catch your breath between laughs there is never a dull moment in Derek’s shows and for 20 years audiences have loved him for it\, but he loves you more! \nOne of CBC’s The Debaters’ fan-favorites; people are often surprised at the raw nature of Derek’s stand-up… and how short he is. If you haven’t seen him live before; come out and discover the many hilarious surprises that his in-person shows are renowned for. No subject is off limits and no rabbit hole too deep.

SUMMARY:Over the Ridge – The Story of Vimy Ridge
DESCRIPTION:Often called the “battle that made Canada\,” Vimy Ridge resulted in over 10\,000 Canadian casualties. Through direct storytelling\, live music\, and dance\, the show examines misconceptions and varying perspectives around that battle\, while drawing parallels to other formative events in our nation’s past. Featuring inventive musical interpretations of WWI soldier songs\, and original choreography performed by members of Ballet Jörgen\, Over the Ridge probes difficult yet necessary questions about how and why we grieve. A vivid\, kinetic ride through history\, as well as an intimate\, personal examination of our connection to the past\, Over the Ridge is a visceral work that passionately argues against the exploitation of young lives.

SUMMARY:Sarah Harmer
DESCRIPTION:Sarah Harmer is a multiple award-winning\, platinum-selling singer-songwriter and environmental activist. \nA deeply personal and political collection of songs motivated by the beauty of life\, the urgency of the climate crisis\, and the question of loss\, Sarah called the album a spiritual successor of sorts to her acclaimed 2000 debut. Its simple title\, Are You Gone\, is a meditation on presence and a bookend to the questions posed on You Were Here – a sharpened\, more electric confrontation with the realities of nature and human nature. \nBetween co-founding the citizen’s organization PERL (Protecting Escarpment Rural Land) and leading the successful effort to prevent an open-pit gravel mine in a UNESCO World Biosphere\nReserve on the Niagara Escarpment\, Sarah has become a fixture in local politics and advocacy. \nIn 2022\, Sarah helped launch the Reform Gravel Mining Coalition in her home province of Ontario to protect water\, farmland\, and biodiversity. She is currently writing songs for a new album.
