Hike, Bite, Repeat: Burlington’s Best Fall Walk-and-Eat Pairings

September 11, 2026

Fall in Burlington is all about crisp air, colourful trails, golden-hour views, and finding something delicious to enjoy afterward.

Why settle for just a hike when you can turn it into a full day out? We’ve paired some of Burlington’s favourite fall walks with nearby restaurants, cafés and local food stops, so you can get outside, work up an appetite and reward yourself with a great meal.

If you’re in the mood for pancakes after a morning walk, a waterfront lunch or a cozy dinner after exploring the trails, here are a few of our favourite walk-and-eat pairings to try this fall.

Kerncliff Park + Pizza, Pasta & Gelato

The Walk: Kerncliff Park – Ian Reid Side Trail
Length: 1.4 km
Difficulty: Moderate
Address: 2198 Kerns Road

Located along the Niagara Escarpment, Kerncliff Park packs plenty of scenery into a relatively short walk. Follow the Ian Reid Side Trail through the woods and around the former quarry before taking in the elevated views from the lookout.

For the best fall atmosphere, visit around sunrise or sunset, when the changing leaves are beautifully lit. Free parking is available at the main park entrance, with additional parking along sections of Kerns Road.

Once you’ve worked up an appetite, head toward Brant Street for a choice between comforting Italian classics or a sweet finish.

CIMA Enoteca

Distance: 3.7 km | Approximately 8-minute drive from Kerncliff Park
Address: 1200 Brant Street, Unit B1
Spotlight Order: Truffle Pasta

Warm up after your fall walk with a plate of CIMA’s truffle pasta. Rich, comforting and perfect for a cooler autumn day, it’s an ideal post-hike meal when you’re craving something a little indulgent.

Best Time: Lunch or early evening.

Rainy-Day Alternative: Skip the trail and make CIMA the destination for a cozy pasta lunch or dinner, then catch a movie at SilverCity Burlington Cinema, just across the street at 50 Brant Street.

Centro Noca

Distance: 3.5 km | Approximately 11-minute drive from Kerncliff Park
Address: 590 Brant St

Best Time: Afternoon.

Rainy-Day Alternative: Head straight to Centro Noca for gelato and a cozy indoor treat, then explore the Art Gallery of Burlington at 1333 Lakeshore Road for a dose of local art and culture.

Mount Nemo + A Cozy Lowville Lunch

Ready for a longer adventure? Mount Nemo is a fall favourite for its escarpment views, wooded trails and rugged terrain.

Choose your adventure with several trail options, including the 1.9 km Quarry Hike, 3.2 km South Loop, 4 km North Loop or 7.7 km Conservation Loop, ranging from easy to moderate.

For spectacular fall scenery and golden-hour lighting, plan your visit for about two hours before sunset. Just make sure you finish before dark, as some sections feature rocky terrain and crevices.

The main gravel parking lot is located at the entrance. A vehicle reservation is required through Conservation Halton, with parking included as part of the park admission.

Make a Day of It

The best thing about fall in Burlington? You don’t have to choose between getting outside and eating well.

A morning hike can become brunch. A waterfront stroll can lead straight to lunch. A sunset walk can end with dinner and drinks. And if the weather isn’t cooperating, there’s always a cozy indoor option waiting nearby.

So lace up your boots, grab a friend and bring your appetite.

Hike. Bite. Repeat.
