Anishinaabe Futurities Through Beadwork with Dr. Melissa Twance
This online conversation between AGB’s Associate Curator Albany Sutherland with scholar and artist Dr. Melissa Twance will explore beadwork as a powerful site for Anishinaabe knowledge and decolonial practice. Shaped by the voices of eight Northern Ontario beadworkers, Dr. Twance’s research highlights how their work offers not only visual expression, but a generative practice of relational learning, cultural continuity, and Indigenous futurity. Together, they will discuss how creative practices like beading teach, resist, and reimagine worlds beyond settler systems.
