Our Tourism Investment Fund provides direct financial support to eligible organizations hosting events and activations within Burlington city limits.

Funding Streams

The Tourism Investment Fund is delivered through two funding streams. Applicants must apply to the stream that best aligns with their event or initiative.

Stream 1: Destination Attraction

This stream supports events that attract visitors from outside Burlington and generate overnight accommodation stays. It is intended for larger-scale or multi-day events that contribute directly to the local visitor economy.

Examples may include:

  • Conferences, symposiums, and AGMs
  • Sporting tournaments and competitions
  • Multi-day festivals or events that generate hotel room nights

Stream 2: Destination Vibrancy

This stream supports events and activations that enhance Burlington’s vibrancy, sense of place, and visitor experience.

Examples may include:

  • Festivals, markets, and public-facing events
  • Sporting, recreational, or leisure-based events
  • Seasonal activations and emerging initiatives

Application Intake Periods

Applications are accepted through structured intake periods and are reviewed on a competitive basis within each intake period, subject to available funding.

Intake Period 1 – Summer & Fall Peak Season

Eligible Event Dates: May 1 – October 31, 2026

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Who is eligible to apply?

Both non-profit and for-profit organizations are eligible to apply under both streams. Applicants may submit more than one application, provided each event is distinct and subject to available funding.

Do events need to take place in Burlington?

Yes. All funded events and initiatives must take place within Burlington city limits.

Are returning applicants eligible?

Yes. Applicants seeking funding for events previously supported through the Tourism Investment Fund must demonstrate clear year-over-year improvements, such as increased attendance, expanded programming, stronger visitor reach, or greater tourism or economic impact.

What can funding be used for?

Funding is intended to supplement event costs and support event success. It is not designed to cover full event expenses or generate profit. BEDT does not co-organize or manage events.

Can BEDT help promote my event?

Yes. BEDT may provide ad hoc promotional support, such as event listings, social media promotion, or newsletter features, subject to availability and relevance. The free BEDT concierge service is also available to help connect organizers with local partners and experiences.
